Hi, welcome to the official webpage of Parkinson's, world famous confectioners.  I am glad you have found us.  Since reviving Parkinson's in 2003 we have come a long way.  Today our Butterscotch is made using traditional machinery over 100 years old and by skilled confectioners with centuries of experience between them.  We use the finest ingredients to make our product unique as well as traditional.

History

The word butterscotch was first recorded in Doncaster, a Yorkshire city in England, where Samuel Parkinson began making the candy in 1817.  In 1851 Parkinson Butterscotch was given to Queen Victoria on her visit to Doncaster and the St Leger where the Queen opened the St Leger.  Following the Queen's visit Parkinson's Butterscotch had royal approval and was one of Doncaster's attractions until it ceased production in 1977.

In 2003 the recipe was found by the wife of a local businessman and revived.  In 2007, over 150 years after Queen Victoria, the Doncaster Racecourse was completely rebuilt and reopened by the Princess Royal who in keeping with the tradition was presented with Butterscotch supplied by the new Parkinson's Doncaster Butterscotch Company, based just 600 yards from the old Parkinson Company

Today the company continues to make Butterscotch using traditional methods and machinery.

PLEASE HELP US:  OUR DISTRIBUTOR AND SOME SUPPLIERS HAVE HIT FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES.  BETWEEN 2007 AND 2010 OVER 5 MILLION BOXES OF PARKINSON'S BUTTERSCOTCH, TOFFEE AND OTHER SWEETS HAVE BEEN SOLD.  HOWEVER EARLIER THIS YEAR WE FACED ISSUES WITH OUR OFFICIAL NATIONWIDE AND INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTOR AND WERE LEFT WANTING.  THIS HAS CAUSED MAJOR CASH FLOW ISSUES, ON TOP OF THIS TWO OF OUR SUPPLIERS HAVE GONE INTO ADMINISTRATION.

WE NEED YOUR HELP.  WE ARE LOOKING FOR DISTRIBUTORS & SUPPLIERS.  WE ARE LOOKING FOR PARTNERS.  WE CURRENTLY HAVE AN OFFER TO SELL THE COMPANY TO A FOREIGN COMPANY BUT WE WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THE COMPANY UK BASED.  DO YOU WANT TO LICENCE OUR BRAND NAME?  WE ARE OPEN TO ALL OFFERS OF HELP OR ASSISTANCE, PLEASE DON'T LEFT THE RECESSION TAKE US DOWN.
