History
The word butterscotch was first
recorded in Doncaster, a Yorkshire city in England, where Samuel
Parkinson began making the candy in 1817. In 1851 Parkinson
Butterscotch was given to Queen Victoria on her visit to Doncaster
and the St Leger where the Queen opened the St Leger. Following the
Queen's visit Parkinson's Butterscotch had royal approval and was
one of Doncaster's attractions until it ceased production in 1977. Today the company continues to make Butterscotch using traditional methods and machinery. BUTTERSCOTCH Parkinson's Doncaster Butterscotch
